Located South East Altar
Shrine of the Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph
The statues are located to the left of the main altar. Both statues sit on carved wood pedestals in the eastern transept, were carved out of teakwood at Oberammergau, Germany and decorated in the studios of the Rambusch Decorating Company. The woodcrafters from Oberammergau date back to the Middle Ages. This altar was made to conform with the 1931 renovation decorating scheme reminiscent of the early church. The altar is inlaid with marble and includes an inset tabernacle. Commonly used in the church for homage to newly wedded couples during the Sacramental Mass of Marriage.
The statue of the Blessed Mother was donated by Mrs. Frank Smith while the statue of Saint Joseph was donated by Mr. and Mrs. George Nunney
Although today the Blessed Virgin is placed along side of Saint Joseph. she was originally placed at this side altar by herself. The side altar was donated by Mr. & Mrs. William Grief.
